The Civil Engineering department at TJIT was established in 2012. The department offers 4-year B.E program (8 semesters) in Civil Engineering which is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department currently has an intake of 60 students.

Vision

To excel in training undergraduate students to become successful civil engineers of high ethics and to encourage involvement of students and faculty in research and community service.

Mission

To provide high quality technical education and soft skills training to students for a successful career in civil engineering and to provide service to the university,engineering profession and the public.To provide challenging, yet supportive and welcoming environment, that motivates students and faculty to achieve their best in a diverse community.

DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design,construction and maintenance of the physically built structures like bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings etc. and also it will take care of naturally built environment. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline and it has several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering,surveying, and construction engineering. Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineers build the world’s infrastructure. It is an age-old profession and has been defined traditionally as a great art, on which the wealth and the well-being of the whole of society depend.

To establish and strengthen the department infrastructure. To offer customized programs to meet the needs of our students. To conduct trainings for students to improve written and oral communication skills. To encourage students to present technical papers in National Conferences, various other technical and extra-curricular activities. To conduct faculty development programmes regularly for skill upgradation. To arrange special lectures from eminent industry persons, conduct industrial visits.
